Do You Know You're Loved?

As I learn more about "the waiting child" or the child in foster care, I realize that more than anything, they are just kids - kids who need love, respect, and guidance. They may behave or act out in inappropriate ways - NOT because they are "bad" or somehow "less than" but rather because they are children who are hurting.

They are little girls who are scared and really have no clue how to react to their circumstances. They are teens who have never seen a loving relationship modeled, ever. They are little boys who have experienced trauma and pain. They are preteens who act tough but really feel alone and lost inside. They are young men and women who don't know how to trust because they have no one to depend on.

These kids are not what they do. They are boys and girls, young men and young women who desperately need to be shown love. They need someone who will look into their eyes and tell them that they are special. Tell them they have great value and worth and SHOW them that they are LOVED.

God calls us as Christians to be His Hands and Feet. He is no longer walking this earth in human form but He has given us (His followers) His very spirit. We are to be Jesus to this world.

Just as these kids are not what they do, neither are we. You are not what you do. You are special, created for a purpose, called, chosen, loved, accepted. Do you struggle with accepting this truth? No matter what you do, or don't do - the love that Jesus has for you will never waver.

Romans 8:38 "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love."

He loves us simply because we are His. He desires that we fully embrace and accept His love because when we do, we can most effectively share His love with the world!

We miss out when we continue to be enslaved to our fears, our desire for comfort, or our own insecurities. We miss out on the work that He wants to do in and through us BUT His love for us never changes. He is Amazing!

Romans 8:1-2 "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to Him, the POWER of the Life-Giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death."

Let's accept His love and His power and walk forward in obedience...every. single. day!

Jami,

You have so hit this on the head. We are bombarded with this world telling us that we aren't enough, that we need to do more or be more, or be less and do less. But this is not true with God. We can't do anything, be anything more, or less to change His love for us. It's fully here and it's fully ours now. So it's really our choice. Who do you believe? I'm choosing to believe God and His unconditional, unchanging, and unwavering love for me. Thank you for sharing this.

Love you!!

Jill

Thank you again for your thoughts. Reading here is such an encouragement to me as we walk the road to foster care. Adoption I understand....but we tend to only hear the bad of foster care, and the scary stories. But these are hurting children who need love, care, respect. We have God's love, we can share it. Thanks for sharing. Starla
