A couple of nights ago while eating dinner we got on the subject of Hudson’s name. Officially, he is still Edwin Fernando “our last name” as opposed to Hudson Edwin “our last name.”
I mentioned to Clint that maybe we should keep Fernando as well. Hudson Edwin Fernando.
His birth mom named him that which makes it more special.
As we were talking – I felt some sadness. It made me think of Hudson’s birth mom, this wonderful woman who gave him life, gave him a name, and then gave him to us.
It’s humbling.
I felt sad as I thought about how Hudson has this whole other side to him – a side that is virtually unknown to him. A rich cultural heritage, a beautiful birth country, and biological family members.
I love my boy so much and I wonder how the unknowns may affect him. All I know is that we will always be open and honest with our sweet son. I’m incredibly grateful to God that He gifted us with Hudson. I truly can’t imagine life without him!
Hudson - you are our beloved son! I often look into your deep dark eyes and am simply amazed by the goodness and love of God! Oh how He blessed us with you!

Great pictures, Jami. I especially love the last one. Remind me to tell you my dream last night.
In the pic of Hudson walking away from the ocean, he reminds me of Clint! I don't know what it is but there's some similarity with his dad! : ) Too cute.
Hudson is one fortunate little man - to be in your family!!
Speaking of birth mothers, check out my post today...an update on Michael and Jane's story ;)
Jami, I often think the same things, too. I wonder how all of the unknowns will effect Bella. It can get overwhelming to a person like me that has a tendency to ask "what if?", but then I am reminded of God and how He brought all of this together and just trust that He will be there to help us handle any issues that may arise and help our sweet children along the way!
Hudson is precious!
love ya,
amanda
I know the feeling and he is such a precious gift as are the birth famlies they may never meet. Love that bottom pic!
thanks for this post, jami. i can imagine wondering all these things and thinking about them, too. it has to be sort of emotional.
love ya,
shar
so, so sweet!!
He is one special little boy - so thankful he is in our family!
He is a cutie! The few times I have watched him in the toddler nursery I have noticed that he seems to have such a soft heart too! What a blessing he is to our church family.
Jami, You said it the best....to be open & honest with him...God will take care of the rest. As we have learned with our children....Each Story is unique. Our God is awesome!
Hudson may not know his BirthMom or family here on earth, but Mark Schultz song...Everything to me...is perfect. Keep shining for Jesus! Linda
